Hello, everyone in the Berg Brigade,

It is that time of the season… I am extremely excited to announce that I have been selected as an “At-Large Nominee” for the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout Presented by BF Goodrich Tires. Myself and 31 other Mazda racers and Champions from across the USA will go through a series of selection criteria, processes, and testing to hopefully become one of the Finalists. The Finalists are the racers, who will then take part in the on-track shootout. The date and track are still to be finalized.

As some of you might remember, last year, I was selected as a Finalist for the MX-5 Cup Shootout but was not selected as a recipient. This year we will be hoping to change that.

2022 will mark the 17th year of the MX-5 Cup shootout and the 3rd year running with the Spec MX-5 “Karts-to-Cars” Scholarship Shootout. In 2020, I won the Spec MX-5 Shootout, which prompted my debut in car racing for the 2021 Mazda Spec MX-5 Club Racing Factory Team, Haag Performance.

This year’s MX-5 Cup judges will be pro racers and coaches Tom Long and Andrew Carbonell, BFG’s motorsport marketing manager Peter Calhoun, Mazda Motorsports’ program manager Jonathan Applegate, and Mazda Motorsports’ business development manager David Cook.
