Spec MX-5 Challenge Rounds #1 & 2 Virginia International Raceway

Hello everyone!

I had a phenomenal time this past weekend at VIR racing in the first Spec MX-5 Challenge South Region/National Region event of the season. We came off with two pole positions and one win. This was my first time at the track, and I can say it deserves lots of respect. To those of you who don’t know, Virginia International Raceway is a racetrack with lots of elevation change and a lot of high-speed, challenging corners. My Mazda Spec MX-5, prepared and run by Denton-Carden Racing, felt amazing to drive the entire weekend, especially after my DCR team dialed in our setups.

In Race #1, I started on Pole Position and led the most laps, but unfortunately, while in battle, I had a coming together with another driver. By rule, this led to disqualification from the race. I ended up being the on-track winner of Race #1 before my unfortunate DQ.

In Race #2, we started on Pole again, and had to fight off my competitors to hold on to my spot. Since my run group was racing with five other classes (four of which had standing starts), it was a bit of a traffic mess! For some parts of the race, it was under a full-course yellow, and at one point, the race was even Red Flagged! Thankfully we were able to finish under the green flag, and after a lot of traffic management, I came out on top as the winner on Sunday! I would like to give a huge “thank you” to my crew chief and friend, Nick Moore, who did a stellar job keeping my car running at the front all weekend!

I would also like to thank the entire team for this; Denton-Carden Racing, Casey Carden, Steve Denton, Paul Denton, Nick Moore, Elizabeth Wojick, and my parents, as this would not have been possible without them. And of course, I would like to thank my supporters who make my racing possible; Penn Elcom, MySim.CA, and Stilo USA!
