Spec MX-5 Challenge Championship Event Recap and Special Announcement

Hello Everyone,

I have some very exciting news!

I am thrilled to announce that I will make my IMSA pro racing debut at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend in support of the Motul Petit Le Mans. I will join Hixon Motor Sports in the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires. I will be piloting the #22 MX-5 Cup car thanks to partners DAE Systems, Penn Elcom, and Jetty. None of this is possible without my partners. Click on the link at the end of this newsletter for the full story.

Race Recap – Spec MX-5 Championship, Nov 5-7, 2021:

Friday, Qualifications:

2021 has been a year of many firsts for me, and attempting to qualify with a field of 64 cars offered plenty of key learnings. As you’d expect, getting a clean lap was a challenge and I learned to take what I can get as early as possible. Although I qualified 11th, my takeaways will serve me for many years to come.

Saturday, Race 1:

My education continued on Saturday. This time, with only the Spec MX-5 cars on the grid, we still followed the pace car for the majority of the race. This highlighted the importance of qualifying and with very few green flag laps, I finished where I started, P11. On to Sunday.

Sunday, Race 2:

Sunday’s race had me starting in P10 and we raced clean until the halfway mark. Mechanical gremlins hampered our pace and this too is something that I will need to learn to deal with as I progress up the ladder in my career. I, unfortunately, retired from the race a few laps from the end. I’d like to congratulate Matt Fasnacht for his well-deserved victory.

After this fantastic season, I would like to thank the entire Haag Performance team, RAmotorsport, Formidable Racing Development, David Cook at Mazda Motorsports, as well as my family, friends, and supporters for making this career-building year possible. This was truly a roller coaster of a year and one that I will never forget. See you all in 2022.
