Alexander Bernard Berg was born on September 22nd, 2006 at 10:30 AM, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and since then, it’s been his destiny to be a racing driver.
Alex’s father, Allen Berg, raced in F1 in 1986, and made his career in racing, in all his lifetime, Allen has been involved with racing, and therefore ever since Alex was born, like father, like son, Alex naturally has always been surrounded by racing,
“I get my love for racing from him”, Alex said in an interview with CBC Calgary.
In Christmas of 2014, Alex got his first go-kart, and in May of 2015, he did his first race, finishing 2nd, out of 20 drivers.
The biggest achievement of Alex’s career was when he earned a spot on the Mazda Motorsports USA Factory Team to race in the Spec MX-5 Challenge series (More info below).
Alex speaks 3 languages having gone to a French immersion school for 6 years, Alex speaks English as his primary language with his father and speaks Spanish with his mother.
Most recently, Alex was selected by eKartingNews.com as one of the 18 best kart racers in North America to participate in a Mazda Motorsports USA Factory Team Scholarship Shootout. The prize of being selected was to be a Mazda Motorsports USA Factory Team driver and to compete next year in the Mazda Spec MX-5 Challenge with the Mazda Factory Team.
He was the youngest driver, and the only Canadian driver to be chosen for the shootout.
Out of the 18 drivers, he earned 1 out of the 2 spots on the team and will be racing next year for Mazda Motorsports USA Factory Team in the Spec MX-5 Challenge.
